DYSPLAY 2024

Overview
Two years ago, we began our journey with Dysfunct Magazine. As active participants in the car scene, with a deep appreciation for photography and nearly a decade of design experience, we wanted to create something that brought these passions together. The result was a fresh take on the typical car magazine—a design-focused, automotive photography publication.
Since then, we’ve released five issues (DYS001-DYS005), collaborating with some of our favourite photographers to capture cars that showcase the Australian scene. With each issue, demand from photographers worldwide grew as more wanted to get involved. Dysplay 2024 is our answer to that demand.
Dysplay 2024 is for those who capture the artistry of the automotive scene. This isn’t just about cars—it’s about creativity, originality, and expression.
Prizes
Besides having your photo printed in a physical magazine (DYS006), if selected, there will also be the opportunity for you to be one of three winners of the Dysplay 2024 Photo Competition.
1st place: $1,000 AUD
2ND place: $300 AUD
3rd place: $200 AUD
All three winners will also be invited to feature in Dysfunct Magazine Issue Six (DYS006) with an interview alongside their winning photograph.
RULES
Submission Requirements:
Must be automotive-related and creatively capture the scene.
No graphic design elements, logo watermarks, illustrations, or AI-generated/assisted images.
Photos must be taken within the submission period (1st Nov – 15th Dec, 2024 @ 11:59PM AEDT).
Only one selected photo per photographer if successful.
Technical Requirements: Photos must have a resolution of at least 240ppi, max size 10MB, JPEG format.
Judging
Judging will be done internally by Dysfunct Magazine based on the following criteria:
Relevance to Automotive Theme
Creativity & Originality
Composition & Technique
Emotional Impact & Storytelling
Our judges will look for a fresh perspective on automotive art, evaluating each entry based on the above criteria. We don't want to see the typical shots, we're encouraging everyone to tap into their artistic side and get experimental with it.

Note: Submissions will be reviewed and selected on a rolling basis, not after the submissions period closes. Therefore, the earlier your submission, the higher the likelihood you may have of being selected and even shared on our Instagram.
